GlaxoSmithKline (the makers of Valtrex) are just trying to get their product out to the public, just like every other drug company out there. Every time a show cuts to a commercial break I can always count at LEAST one drug commercial.
I don’t think “history lovers” have herpes more than anyone else, it’s just a company trying to sell their product to make some money. It’s estimated 80% of the world has cold sores (oral herpes) and 25% of the world has genitalherpes. That’s a lot of money the makers of Valtrex can be making!

I was unlucky enough to get both types of herpes genitally and oral herpes on my mouth. I believe they both came from my current boy friend of 3 over years.
It is possible to pass on oral herpes through sex regardless if you have them orally or genitally.
If you had any signs of an out break while you had sex with your partners then there would be more of a chance of you passing herpes onto them. But there is a very SMALL chance of you passing herpes onto your partner even if you don’t have symptoms or an out break.
However oral herpes is extremely common to have 80-90 percent of the world’s population has it, so there is a good chance that your partners could have had oral herpes. This would make it less likely for them to get oral herpes genitally.
Count yourself lucky that you don’t have both types of herpes and that you didn’t pass herpes onto your partners that you know of.
