HSV or ‘Herpes Simplex Virus’ is the virus which causes Genital Herpes. This virus is highly infectious and transmits from one to another due to contact with skin, like oral, vaginal or anal sex.

Causes of Genital Herpes:

The presence of HSV on the facade of the skin is enough to be transmitted to a partner. This virus is transmitted easily through the moist parts of the skin like the anus, genitals and the mouth. In a few cases, there are chances of getting infected even through other parts of the body like the skin or the eyes, which would be affected by ‘Herpes Simplex’.

Genital herpes does not get transmitted through cups, towels or cutlery, as the virus is short lived when is not on the skin. Once diagnosed with HSV, this virus is reactivated very fast and causes a ‘new bout of genital herpes’. This phenomenon is called ‘recurrence’. Once you are infected by this virus, it lives within the nerves of the skin, but there are no symptoms. This is mostly inactive, but it gets reactivated every now and then.

The reason for the recurrence of HSV is not known, but there are certainly a few causes which accountable for the indications of the recurrence of genital herpes. For instance, abrasion in the genital area could be at the time of intercourse, which could be a cause of recurrence. There are other causes like, stress, excessive intake of alcohol, falling ill and the genital area being exposed to strong sunlight.

Symptoms of Genital Herpes:`

In most cases of HSV, there are no symptoms at the initial stages and this in turn does not make the sufferer aware of the condition. It is to be noted that, the symptoms of this virus are not known for a long period of time and in some cases not known for years too. In case you face any indications of the infection initially, it might be between four to seven days after being infected by HSV. This indication which appears is known as the primary infection. In case of indications of a primary infection, the condition is known to be a lot more severe as compared to the recurrent infections.

Symptoms of primary genital herpes are; vaginal discharge in case of women, fever, red blisters which are painful, these blisters burst and leave behind ulcers on the buttocks, rectum, external genital area and thighs, pain while passing urine, in case of women there is ulceration and blister on the cervix and a general feeling of being unwell.

These symptoms generally tend to last for about twenty days. In case of recurrent infections the symptoms would be again ulceration and blisters on the cervix in case of women, red blisters which are painful and a burning or tingling feeling in the area surrounding the genitals before the appearance of the blister. These symptoms tend to last for about seven to ten days.

Treatment of Genital Herpes:

Treatment of genital herpes depends on whether the treatment is for recurrent infection or for the first time. In case it is the first time, the treatment is done by a GUM that is Genito Urinary Medicine specialist in case you are not able to meet a GUM specialist you should at least consult a general physician who would put you on a course of anti viral tablets. In case of recurrent infection your general physician would treat you with a mild dose as the infection is less when it recurs.

We’re both over 40 and we both had numerous sexual partners. But just now after our breakup after my last annual exam I’ve become aware that I have genital herpes. 6. To boost my immune system I use a “non-synthetic” blend of vitamins and minerals. I also take amino acids and a variety of herbal teas.

7. Avoid stress as much as possible. I noticed that when I am stressed out the virus starts to resurface. Stress breakes down the immune system. To combat stress, I set aside 30 minutes a day to listen to some meditative music or sounds of nature.

During my years of research of the herpes virus I have learned of many more helpful ways of keeping the virus at bay. To avoid the side effects and the dangers of prescription drugs, I only searched for natural treatments.

The herpes virus must not be taken lightly and it is crucial to keep your immune system in top condition at all time. I know that this may mean a huge change in your lifestyle, it did for me, but this is much easier than having to suffer. Can/ WIll COLLOIDAL SILVER naturally cure HERPES? HSV-2?

I have heard & done alot of research on COLLOIDAL SILVER.
It supposedly has a lot of natural benefits.

I’m interested in colloidal silver too. In a petri dish it will kill pretty much any virus or bacteria. It also kills fungus. Microbes suffocate in its presence. I think the argyria thing is a big propaganda scare strategy. According to Dr. Mercola only the colloids with protein cause argyria. True colloidal silver will not harm you in any way. I have found people who have been taking silver for decades and have not turned blue.

I think its best to just make it yourself using a 9 volt battery and some silver bullion. It’s really easy. Just attach wires to the battey terminals and connect the other end of the wires to two pieces of pure silver and put the silver in water and watch it slowly disintegrate into the water.

When I became interested in silver 6 months ago I remembered that my dad had used silver on a skin fungus many years ago. He had tried everying the dermatologist recomended and nothing worked. A friend told him to try colloidal silver which he rubbed on his skin and it killed the fungus. It was the only thing that worked.

I suspect that silver will kill any disease caused by virus, bacteria or fungus. I would recomend drinking it and also pouring it directly on the herpes lesions.

I don’t believe what mainstream medicine has to say about silver. I think the corporations and government agencies are lying to protect themselves from extinction. If we get healthy from natural remedies we don’t need them anymore.

Can anyone tell me what herpes Encephalitis is? How long it takes to actually become noticeable, could you catch it from genital herpes if you had oral sex? How long does it take to spread? ect?

Herpes encephalitis is an uncommon but life-threatening complication of herpes virus infection. Encephalitis is an inflammation or infection of the brain and central nervous system (CNS).

How does it occur?
The herpes virus usually causes a skin infection, causing painful blisters. The blisters last for several days and the virus can be spread from the blisters to other people. The blisters may start as cold sores or fever blisters around the mouth, or they may start as sores in the genital area.

There are several ways the virus might infect the brain and nervous system.

In between outbreaks on the skin, the herpes virus lives in nerve cells close to the spinal column. It’s likely that the virus spreads from these areas into the fluid that cushions the brain and spinal cord.
The herpes virus may enter the central nervous system through infections in the head and neck, including the ears. Many people have herpes infections inside their noses or inside their ears. These areas are separated from the central nervous system by very thin bones and membranes, which the virus can pass through.
The virus may spread to a newborn during delivery if the mother has herpes sores in the genital area. When this happens, the baby may have a total body herpes infection, including the central nervous system.
What are the symptoms?
The symptoms of herpes encephalitis are similar to the symptoms of meningitis, a stroke, or epilepsy: They may change from mild to severe within several days or even several hours.

At first the infection may cause flulike symptoms, including fever and aches, especially headache.
There can be personality changes, hallucinations, and memory problems.
The infection may then cause a gradual decrease in awareness. There may be disorientation, confusion, and seizures. Coma may follow.
If you think you or someone else may have herpes encephalitis, it is very important to contact your healthcare provider right away.

How is it diagnosed?
The diagnosis can be difficult. Someone who is developing encephalitis is often not able to talk. Your provider will want to know your medical history, including:

any history of herpes infections
when and how long the symptoms have occurred
other medical conditions that might make it harder for the body to fight infection and easier for the virus to spread.
You will have a physical exam.

Spinal fluid collected from a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) can be tested for the herpes virus. Blood tests for herpes are also usually done. However, it can take days to weeks to get the test results.

How is it treated?
The main treatment is hospitalization and antiviral medicine given by IV (by vein), such as acyclovir. Because this infection can be life-threatening, the medicine may be started right away, before test results are known. Additional treatments depend on your symptoms and your physical condition. For example, if you have brain swelling, medicines can be given to try to treat it.

How long will the effects last?
It can take a long time to recover from herpes encephalitis. This is especially true if the infection has caused problems such as speech problems, weakness on one side, or balance problems. If the infection was in one particular part of the brain, the symptoms and after-effects will be similar to the effects of a stroke. These effects usually require physical therapy. Because the brain controls all the basic functions of thinking and moving, there may be temporary or permanent loss of any of these functions. Herpes encephalitis can be fatal. If a newborn is infected and survives the infection, the baby is likely to have damage to the brain or other parts of the nervous system.

How can I help take care of myself?
If you are recovering from herpes encephalitis, it is important for you to:

Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions.
Keep your physical therapy appointments
Work with your occupational therapist so you can be as independent as possible.
See a counselor if you feel you are getting discouraged or depressed.
Remember that recovery will take many weeks or months.
Tell your provider if you are having new symptoms or you feel your treatment or therapy is not helping.
What can I do to prevent herpes encephalitis?
While we don’t know how to prevent herpes encephalitis, there are ways to try to prevent getting the herpes virus.

The herpes virus is everywhere in the environment, especially type 1, which is the herpes strain that usually causes cold sores (fever blisters). As with many other infections, frequent and careful hand-washing is the place to start, especially if your work brings you into contact with the general public.
When herpes blisters are present, as in a cold sore on the lip, the liquid in the rash contains virus and can infect others. Avoid touching the blisters. If you do touch them, wash your hands as soon as possible. Wash your hands thoroughly
