Questions about Cold Sores! Help me out!?

Okay so i understand about 80% of the population has it.

I also understand that it is a form of ( 1 i believe)

Okay now for my questions…..

If my Significant Other has a cold sore does that mean she got like the genital kind from a past partner and now it’s on her mouth???? Or does it mean she just has mouth ?

What causes 1?

Ive never ever had a cold sore can i still get one even if she doesn’t have one and we kiss?

What are some treatments i can use if i have one?

So if my significant other participated in oral sex with a past partner that’s the cause of her cold sore?

help me out!

If your partner has a cold sore, it does not mean that she has Genital . It means she just has mouth . is a localised infection – it stays in the place it was caught. So if you caught it on the mouth, only your mouth will ever be infectious and vice versa.

1 is a virus. It is spread by skin to skin contact, and once the virus is in your body it hides in the nerve ganglion in that area, reappearing on the skin from time to time as a sore or small rash of blisters.

1 is the usual cause of cold sores on the mouth – about 98% of cold sores are caused by hsv-1, while the other 2% are caused by hsv-2. People catch 1 through kissing other people who have oral . Oral is often caught as a baby or small child, from a kiss from a parent or other relative who has oral . They in turn probably caught it from being kissed by their parents. It is unconnected to sexual behaviour – it is usually caught before puberty.

Oral can be caught through giving oral sex, but this is very rare. Since genital is often a different virus, hsv-2, a person who caught oral this way would most likely have oral hsv-2. Only 2% of oral is caused by hsv-2.

Yes, if you have never had a cold sore, there is a risk of catching oral if you kiss her. It is low as long as you avoid contact when she has a cold sore, but there is always a small risk. That is why so many people have oral (70% of adults).

If you have one, it will go on its own and you don’t need to treat it. If you did catch it from her, and had never had the virus before, you would probably experience a primary outbreak which is more severe, and might need to get antiviral medication such as valtrex from the doctor. Some people swear by topical antivirals, zovirax etc, or abreva, but I am not sure otc meds work. What does work is antiviral medication taken as soon as you experience the first symptoms of a cold sore, such as a tingle on the lips. However, you need a prescription for these.

No, it is likely that your partner caught cold sores as a baby or small child from an affectionate and non-sexual kiss, or even by sharing a glass. Oral is not normally caught from sexual activity.

One more thing I would add, although your partner does not have genital herself, one causes half of all genital infections these days. In other words, though you cannot catch genital if you have intercourse with her, if her mouth makes contact with your genitals you ARE at risk of getting genital from her oral infection.

CAN YOU GET HSV 1 FROM A SHARED BATHROOM?

HI! I HAVE NEVER HAD A COLD SORE & MY ROOMMATE WHOM I SHARE A BATHROOM WITH HAS AN OUTBREAK. I KNOW DOESN’T SURVIVE LONG ON SURFACES,TOWELS,SOAP,ETC BUT DOES HSV1? HOW DO I PROTECT MYSELF? THANKS. HOW LONG DOES HSV1 SURVIVE OUTSIDE THE BODY?

The virus (both HSV1 And HSV2) is very fragile and dies almost immediately outside of the human body. Just make sure you don’t accidentally use the same cup or toothbrush.

genital herpes lower back pain
UTI… Yeast Infection… need help?

I have , and have for a couple years now. Never had a “major” outbreak; although I have a minor one now. Lately, it burns to pee, and its painful to have sex with my husband. I have lower back pain, and my stomach also hurts. I have yellowish discharge in my undies (not in excess), but I think that is normal for my body. My husband also noticed a vaginal odor. It isn’t strong but since I have no sense of smell, and he can’t describe it other than “its not me”…. I couldn’t tell you anymore about it. I have tried webmd and it tells me I could have a yeast infection, uti or urethritis… but I don’t know if I have any of those or if its just my . Someone please help…
sorry about the tmi… thanks
I have now been informed thatl I do not have an odor now… but I took those at home UTI test strips (from AZO) That said I tested postive for the WBC but not nitrate. And my husband already has and that has already been discussed… thanks!

firstly you probably shouldnt be having sex during an outbreak of as you are just going to give it to him then pass it back and forth also if you have thrush etc go to the chemists and get some canesten and rub it where it should be rubbed also males can get thrush on the end of their penis and you both need to probably go together and get seriously tested at an std clinic as there could be underlying medical problems hope this helps.
