%%1%%Why does the History International channel run SO MANY ads for GenitalHerpes Medication?
Was there some study done that concluded that history lovers tend to have high rates of herpes infection?
Those commercials are played ALL the time and on almost every channel.
GlaxoSmithKline (the makers of Valtrex) are just trying to get their product out to the public, just like every other drug company out there. Every time a show cuts to a commercial break I can always count at LEAST one drug commercial.
I don’t think “history lovers” have herpes more than anyone else, it’s just a company trying to sell their product to make some money. It’s estimated 80% of the world has cold sores (oral herpes) and 25% of the world has genitalherpes. That’s a lot of money the makers of Valtrex can be making!

details from the Army’s “Standards of Medical Fitness”, as of February 2004. These standards generally apply to all other branches as well. Remember that most of these conditions are NOT necessarily permanently disqualifying, but they are red flags! If you have had a medical complication at any time in your life that is mentioned here, then you need to tell your recruiter. He/she will tell you whether your condition can be waivered, or if it is permanently disqualifying. Remember that if you do not get an official waiver and your condition is later discovered, you will most likely be dishonorably discharged for fraudulent enlistment. The choice is yours.

b cool. b safe. b yourself. It’s become frighteningly ubiquitous. Once an after thought for only a select group, HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) have permeated the lives of millions, changing the way we understand and inhabit this thing called life. According to UNAIDS estimates, there are now 33.3 million people living with HIV , including 2.5 million children. During 2009 …
I have Genital Herpes. Is it possible to spread Herpes while swimming in a swimming pool? Please provides sources if possible.
No. Herpes is spread through skin-to-skin contact. It is not spread by fluids, and it dies quite quickly away from the human body. Unless perhaps you were having sex with someone in the pool – then you could spread it to them, but not to anyone else.
There have been studies done that have shown that the virus can live for a while in spas or hot tubs, but you would need to literally wipe your bare genitals across a surface, and then have someone else do the same thing. (There are no known transmissions through spas or hot tubs.)
Please know that there is a LOT of misinformation about herpes out there – and even doctors will tell you that it can be spread through towels (it isn’t) or from fluids (it’s not). My favorite website about herpes is the link below.
I’ll see if I can find a RELIABLE source regarding swimming pools in particular. But its usually not addressed, since it doesn’t involve anything like skin-to-skin contact.
